Welcome to Clin-tucky!

In mid-June, Momma, Janey, & Toni came to visit us. It was Toni's first visit and I KNOW she was impressed with our big city! We had a great time even though we spent most of it hanging out on the deck. As you can see here, we were "camped out" for the long haul:

Chris was nice enough to take a picture of us all together. Toni and I had spent the morning hours laying in the sun so we weren't really at our best...but Momma and Janey look nice! (I did NOT say anything bad about you, Toni!)

While the girls were busy "chatting it up," Chris and Harrison enjoyed a little time in the hot tub:

I don't remember what was so funny here but aren't we having a good time???

One moment not captured in photos was the time we spent (well over an hour) texting movie lines to Kayce. She was grossly out numbered as Chris, Toni, & I kept sending her random movie lines and she always had a good one to come back with - the fun was over when she finally fell asleep on her end.

It was great having them here to visit (including Kayce's "virtual visit"). I hope we get to do it again soon!!!

And They're Off!!!

After Harrison's day at the ballpark, it was then Chris's turn at the track. We spent June 14th at Arlington Race Track in Chicago - what a beautiful place...and what a beautiful day! It was "Salute to the Troops" day and as part of the celebration of our men and women in arms we saw a special parachute jump from the Army's Black Daggers - it was amazing to see...and they all landed right at the finish line of the track!

Oh, and I know you all have the same burning question...did you hit it big on the races??? Well, if we did I probably would be able to pay someone to do this for me (so the answer is NO). But Chris and Harrison had a good time watching the races - it's a whole different experience when you can get trackside (literally) to see the horses go by.

And, while Chris was betting some horses, Harrison got the chance to ride one.

I was just happy to have a day out in the beautiful sunshine.

Take Me Out to the Ballgame...

Harrison's first "real" baseball game was our trip on May 24th to see the Peoria Chiefs. He was thrilled to see the ballpark and watch the game LIVE!Harrison was also very excited about the play area at the ballpark - who knew there was so much fun to be had??? While he enjoyed the playground, he had the most fun on the inflatables (but then, don't we all?)!

The best part of all, though was the chance to run the bases after the game! He was a little disappointed that they wouldn't let him slide into home but he still strutted across home plate. Since there are other kids in the picture with him, I'm not posting it here...but if you've ever seen the boy strut you know what I'm talking about!

Ed Grimley - revisited

Ok, so our kids may not know who Ed Grimley is, but most folks my age will never forget Martin Short's character on Saturday Night Live. May 22, 2009 was Crazy Hair Day at school and Harrison begged for this look - you tell me if it doesn't remind you of our good friend Ed!?!?!

Backyard Baseball!

Nothing says summer like baseball...and nothing beats a pick up game in the backyard. Chris had his hands full trying to take on Harrison, Kyla, and Lilly (actually, who knows who won - no body was keeping score)! But a great time was had by all!!!

The pitcher in action:
Harrison & Lilly waiting their turn at bat:

Kyla got ALL of that one!

Lilly showing us her catching ability...of course, my photography ability is lacking-you can't see the ball in her hand!

And, a power shot by Harrison:

Like I said, a good time was had by all...isn't that right, Pitcher???

Mid-life Crisis...or Just for Fun???

So, some of you know that in my "former life" I had a convertible. And I loved it. And it used way too much gas. And we sold it when we moved to AZ for that very reason.

Well, the Buick's been a great car but it was time to let her go. So, as luck would have it (or maybe God is rewarding me for being a good girl...) we found a great deal on a 2002 Chrysler Sebring LXi convertible! The funny thing is, I've always said I wanted a Sebring convertible. And, just like my former lovely topless vehicle, this one is white too! History is repeating itself but with better gas mileage and fewer miles on the car - we couldn't believe it, but this beauty has less than 40,000 miles.

I'm "back in the saddle" and loving my drive to work again!!!

The Toothless Wonder

It WAS a big weekend in KY on our last trip. In addition to meeting Katie Beth, Janey's surprise birthday, and the KY Derby, Harrison lost one of his top teeth. It's a good thing the tooth fairy travels - she found her way to Grandma's house and left him TWO DOLLARS!!!

Right after we got home, the other front top tooth came out. Now he really is "The Toothless Wonder!"

But, isn't he still the cutest thing????
